  • Once Upon a Dance

    Wed 29 Mar 2023

A group of Year 2 children and our Arts Ambassadors performed in the show 'Once Upon a Dance', held at St Paul's CEVC Junior School.  The show included performances from a range of schools and organisations, bringing together different generations and experiences to create a wonderful production for families and friends to enjoy.  Professional artists and choreographers worked with the groups to create art work, puppets and dances for the performance.  The Year 2 children from Bowlish performed their 'Monster Mash' dance with lovely confidence and joy.  They also created and performed a shadow puppet section to say thank you and goodbye to Mrs Gilbert who is leaving the school at the end of term.  Well done to all of the children and adults involved and thank you to Louise Lappin-Cook for the wonderful experiences provided to the children through 'Make the Sunshine'.

  • Animal Workshop

    Tue 28 Feb 2023

The animal workshop involved the children in seeing and learning about a range of animals that live in hot climates.  The children were able to touch or hold some of the animals and they all enjoyed being in close contact to animals that they wouldn’t usually get to see.  This workshop supported the children’s science learning about different animal groups.  We are fortunate that a donation received from the Glastonbury Festival was used to fund this experience for the children.

  • African Dance Workshop

    Mon 27 Feb 2023

Today the children took part in an African dancing workshop.  They enjoyed learning a range of dance moves as well as information about the music used.  The children were able to wear traditional African dress within the workshop, moving their bodies to become animals found in some parts of Africa.  We were fortunate that this workshop was funded by the PE and Sports premium and supported the children’s learning in dance and their current topic about animals in a hot climate.

  • NSPCC Number Day

    Mon 06 Feb 2023

On 'Number Day' the children came to school dressed with their favourite number.  they took part in lots of number activities such as working with money in shops and decorating biscuits with their favourite number!  In the afternoon the Year 2 children opened a shop to sell treats and the children had to add up how much they were spending and make the right payment.  Other money donated on the days was given to the NSPCC to support their work with children.

  • Safety Week

    Fri 06 Jan 2023

As part of our Safeguarding Curriculum the children have been learning about a range of safety topics this week.  Year 2 children received a visit from a Fire Fighter to explain the importance of staying away from fire, knowing escape routes in their house and adults installing and checking smoke alarms in the house.  They were lucky to be able to view the fire vehicle which they enjoyed very much!  All children learnt about the importance of following safety rules for crossing the road and that they must always cross roads with an adult until they are older.  Many children enjoyed practical activities on the playground to learn road safety rules.  Other activities included the NSPCC 'Stay safe, Speak out' assembly and working in House Teams to reflect on their learning and produce safety posters for the school.
