  • Christmas Trees

    Wed 07 Dec 2022

The children have been very busy creating Christmas tree decorations!  One set of decorations has been used to create a colourful tree of stars for the Christmas Tree Festival at the Baptist Church.  Another range of coloured baubles have been decorated by the children and are being used as decorations on a Christmas tree in Tesco.  We are pleased that the children have been able to contribute to local decorations and hope that the community enjoy seeing them during the festive period!

  • Bishop's Palace Art Exhibition

    Mon 05 Dec 2022

The children have been reusing empty yogurt pots to create bells for an art installation at the Bishop's Palace in Wells.  Our colourful archway of bells, based on the Christmas carol 'Ding Dong Merrily', is currently on display at the palace.  The children have been awarded a £50 book token due to their creation being judged 'the most colourful'.  Well done to everyone involved in this wonderful creation!

  • Remembrance Day

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

Today each class wrote a message to those in the past who fought in wars and gave their lives or were injured.  The children were very respectful in maintaining the two minute silence prior to their messages being read out and tied to their poppy in our garden.  The children wore their poppies with pride and also placed a remembrance cross alongside their poppies.

  • Theatre Alibi Performance

    Wed 09 Nov 2022

Today an unusual parcel was received at Bowlish Infant School.  In assembly Mrs Gilbert and Mrs Harpin took delivery of the parcel which turned out to contain travellers named Katie and Tobin.  They told the story of how they came to travel in a large box around the world and many tales of their adventures.  This was a live performance for the children by Theatre Alibi that was funded by Make the Sunshine for the children for which we are very grateful!

  • Flamenco Dancer Workshop

    Thu 20 Oct 2022

Today the children had the opportunity to watch a flamenco dancer performing and also joined in to learn lots of movements to take part in the flamenco dace.  All of the children copied the movements very well and enjoyed creating shapes and sounds to reflect the music.  What a wonderful Thursday afternoon treat!

  • Summer Reading Challenge

    Fri 14 Oct 2022

Well done to the children who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge and were presented with certificates in assembly.  It is wonderful to see that so many children took part and were keen to keep reading books over the summer holiday.

  • Harvest Art Week

    Fri 07 Oct 2022

This week the children have focused on harvest through art work.  They have thought about the importance of apples in Somerset and created apple pictures using tree bark rubbings.  They have looked carefully at fruits and vegetables and created continuous line drawings of these foods.  The children also made a sandwich in the shape of a hedgehog, made repeating pattern crowns and took part in harvest singing.  They enjoyed these activities within their House Teams giving them the opportunity to play and learn with children from different year groups.

  • Harvest Festival

    Thu 06 Oct 2022

It was lovely to welcome parents and other family members into school to celebrate harvest with the children.  Each class sang a song; each with a lovely harvest message which was enjoyed by the audiences.  Our Year 2 children also retold a poem and read out harvest prayers that they had written.  It was wonderful to have so many generous donations of food to create hampers for members of our school community.

  • Summer fun Day!

    Fri 22 Jul 2022

The children had a wonderful end of term treat; an ice-cream van visiting the school! They enjoyed a delicious ice-cream or lolly treat for their break time.  This was made possible due to a generous donation to the school and funds from FOBS.  Happy holidays to all of the children and staff from Bowlish.
