The children may have a hot meal or bring sandwiches. In September 2014 Universal Free School meals were introduced for pupils until the end of Year 2. This means that all children attending Bowlish Infant School are entitled to a free school meal each day. Parents are requested to complete meal choices for their child on a termly basis. Meals are provided by The Mendip School, Shepton Mallet. There are frequent special meal days such as for bonfire night, Christmas, Chinese New Year etc. Please ask at the school office or get in touch for more details.
Children may bring a packed lunch if they do not order a school meal. The children eat together in the school hall in two sittings. Parents are asked to ensure that packed lunches provide a balanced midday meal for their child and do not contain sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks.
Break Time Snacks
Children are provided with a free piece of fruit every-day at school. We request that different snacks or pieces of fruit are not sent into school and children are encouraged to eat the fruit provided. Children are asked to bring a bottle of water to school and they will have access to this drink during the school day. To encourage healthy habits we ask that bottles only contain water and that squash is not added to it.
